First of all. What is Philosophy?
Per google in the year 2026; Philosophy is the systematic, critical study of fundamental questions regarding existence, knowledge, ethics, reason, and reality.
Which I think is a perfect defintion in the current times we are in.
Although the black community may not have a Plato or Aristotle. We had some heavyweights that definitely defined each generation. Hear are some you may have heard of. W.E.B. Du Bois, renowned for his work in sociology and the concept of "double consciousness," exploring the Black experience in America. Frantz Fanon, a key figure in critical theory and postcolonial studies, focusing on the psychology of oppression. Lastly, Alain Locke, my personal favorite also known as the "Dean" of the Harlem Renaissance and the first Black Rhodes Scholar, he promoted the "New Negro" philosophy.
Keep in mind, these are only a few well known black philosophers. We definitely have more in the tank but I'll that for you to research.
