Hello ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to my first official wrtten law x tech blog post.
I thought this would be a great topic to discuss as you go on this journey with me from being a Systems Engineer and using that background to do well at law school in a few years.
Being transparent, if you look at my resume. I have not held an official title as a software/systems engineer. But in the real world, outside of these working for a corporation or university. Being a systems engineer is what I am and what I do. So whether Im getting paid or not to think like an systems engineer is irrelevant. Its what I am doing on a day-to-day basis that defines what I am producing in the world.
Now, on to why I am transitioning into law from being a systems engineer. To be honest, I am not moving away from tech or being a systems engineer but using that knowledge to innovate and attack problems in the legal field from an engineering lens. Knowledge to me can be looked at from the law of conservation of energy. Which states, that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. So applying that logic to knowledge. Knowledge cannot be created or destroyed but transformed or applied from one discipline to another.
Even with companies integrating AI more and more into their daily workflows and eliminating certain jobs. The need for lawyers will always be there. What will change is the low-level monotonous work that associates and partners do. That being said, cyber security and IP, from my research and from a common sense perspective, this specialty area will be and is on the rise.
Also, I must say there is alot of fear right now with the rise of usage of AI and it eliminating so many jobs in the future. You can see it even happening now.
But regardless if you dont subscribe to being a believer in something greater than yourself. Hypothetically, if you fall and are not grounded by God, in my opinion, you wont evade the curveballs life throws at you. In the end, you will get swept like a NBA series that went 4-0!!!
